Database Engineer

Currently based in Chinnor, Oxfordshire but moving to the Oxford Science Park, Oxford in Summer 2018

We are always on the hunt for new talent and right now we have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Database Engineer looking for their next challenge at the cutting edge of technology.

You will be tasked with growing a new team focussed on database and data management for the Fuel3D platform.  From conceiving, architecting, implementing and maintaining, this journey may involve short-term as well as long term strategies. 

Collaborating with Product, Research and (potentially) customers, you will have the opportunity to create and develop database artifacts, data access patterns and performance optimisations, whilst maintaining the highest of standards and best practice. 

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Demonstrable experience in Data Architecture, Database Management and distributed deployment in MySQL, PostGres or NoSQL (Couchbase, Cassandra) or comparable database.
  • Extensive work experience on performance monitoring, optimisation and reporting
  • Current work experience in Cloud deployment – AWS, Azure or equivalent
  • Agile development – SCRUM/XP
  • Expertise in scripting, preferably Python
  • Proactive, team player who is passionate about our technology
  • Leadership skills combined with effective communication and presentation skills
  • Work under pressure to tight deadlines

Knowledge of one or more of the following would be great but are certainly not a deal breaker: 

  • Computer Vision domain
  • Big Data experience
  • C++/Java
